Youth Newsletter

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
We're eager to create a fun place for youth ultimate players across the state to share photos, shoutouts, drills and games, and... whatever else they want it to be! The goal is to inspire one another, and inspire folks who are just thinking about starting a team, clinic, or camp whether that's a student, parent/guardian, coach, PE teacher, or anyone else. Along the way, we'll bring in marketing, creative, and journalism experts to mentor the team of youth writers, graphic artists, and editors.
Come back in late December to express interest!
(COMING SOON) YOUTH: I WANT TO BE PART OF THE YOUTH NEWSLETTER TEAM!
(COMING SOON) ADULT: I WANT TO BE A NEWSLETTER MENTOR
COMMITMENT
TIME: We'll figure this out as we build this together. We expect the team will meet for about 90 minutes twice each quarter, and then folks will put in about 2-6 hours of content creation and editing work outside of the meetings.
ROTATION: We want folks to delve into what they're most interested in, and we also want folks to rotate through various positions to 1) experience a different facet of the publication process and flex/grow new mental muscles, and 2) more evenly distribute the work load.
SERVICE: We want you to enjoy your time working on the youth newsletter, and we want you to avoid burnout. We ask that members 1) commit to at least two quarters (half a year), and 2) commit to referring two new people during your expected last quarter. Folks can stay on for longer and these expectation can change based on the group's dynamics and best operating procedures.
MENTORS: Adult mentors (volunteers) should expect to join for about 45 minutes of the staff meetings. They also will have a 30 minute onboarding meeting with CUA staff, and should expect 4-6 hours of prep and review work during the first two quarters of 2025 as we get the entire process set up for success. We hope in subsequent quarters that outside of meeting time will reduce to 2-3 hours.
